Our Commitment
Slí Nua takes its obligations under equality legislation seriously and is committed to providing fair and equitable treatment to, and valuing diversity in, its team, membership, and all communities we engage with.
We are dedicated to ensuring that individuals from across all cultural, social, economic, gender identity, age, disability, ethnic, and religious backgrounds can gain equitable access to the resources, spaces, networks, and support they need to thrive, creatively, professionally, and as members of their community.
Our actions and working practices are guided by our Charter of Values and Ethics, and by the following legislation and frameworks:
Legal Framework
Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Act 2014
Our public sector equality and human rights duty, to promote equality, prevent discrimination, and protect human rights in our services and workplace.
Employment Equality Acts 1998 to 2015
Prohibiting discrimination across nine grounds: gender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, race, and membership of the Traveller community.
Equal Status Acts 2000 to 2018
Ensuring equal access to our services and spaces regardless of background.
Disability Act 2005
Commitment to accessibility in our physical spaces and digital platforms.
National Social Enterprise Policy 2024 to 2027
Aligning with Ireland's framework for social enterprises that prioritise social impact over profit.
EU Charter of Fundamental Rights
Upholding dignity, freedoms, equality, solidarity, citizens' rights, and justice.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
Contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities), SDG 17 (Partnerships).
What This Means in Practice
At Slí Nua Studio, inclusion is not a policy on a shelf. It shapes how we design our spaces, who we invite to the table, and how we build together:
- Our physical spaces at Glebe Street are designed for accessibility and dignity.
- Our digital platform is built to be navigable, legible, and welcoming to all.
- Our programmes actively seek participation from underrepresented communities.
- Our pricing, token system, and access model are designed to reduce barriers, not create them.
- Our AI tools (Alex, Bert, Cecelia) are developed with awareness of bias and are regularly reviewed.
- Our Commons wing is governed by a shared charter of ethos and values, co-created with the community.
